seonghwa, it's going to be impossible to fully convey all of my thoughts and emotions here after watching you on lee mujin, so i'm going to try my best to gather up as much as possible.
first before anything else, you did a phenomenal job. i can't emphasize that enough.
now, the songs themselves. it's hard to explain how your voice has an impact on me personally, because of the unique situation in how i process music and sounds overall. because i have auditory-tactile synesthesia, where sounds are also registered as a physical sensation (my experience of it can only be described as it living within my veins; almost like having a unique heartbeat in a way), extremely sensitive hearing, and being a highly sensitive person (hsp), music has always existed for me on the deepest soul level. i'm moved emotionally very easily; i've been moved to tears many times. and yet not once, not a single time before you, did someone's voice impact me at that soul level in such a way that i legitimately stopped breathing, without realizing it until becoming lightheaded.
that was from the very first song cover i ever heard from you. there is something so immensely beautiful in your vocal range, your tone, the way your voice is transformed into the embodiment of emotion itself. that is crystal clear in every song, and it was radiant once again in every song you performed here.
the songs you chose really showed off the immense range you have, not just from the perspective of vocal range, but your ability to convey the emotions of a song in such a way that it becomes truly alive. if you've ever watched someone weaving an intricate pattern into cloth, that is what your voice does with your emotions.
it means so much to know that your original intentions to rap are being honoured and you're able to show those sides and facets of yourself as well. there are such distinct colours you show in rapping that i really love, and i truly hope you can continue to show more of that in the future. i remember when the previews were going up for this comeback and i got so excited the moment i heard you rap. it's really so cool and just as amazing as your singing. rather than a separate entity, i feel that your singing and rapping are layers within you, and however you want to and are able to showcase them, i fully support you.
there were multiple points made throughout that, absolutely, ∞% agree. the sound like an instrument, the range of character, the ability of expressing darkness (depth). there is so much of yourself that you put into your vocal performance, and what i mean by that is that because you are someone who is very dedicated, devoted, sincere, and feels things on such a pure level of emotion, that is carried into your delivery of a song the moment you sing it. and because it is delivered in such a sincere manner, the listener receives all of that in empathy.
your sincerity is a core part of your soul. whether it's the team ring worn in pride and honour of loved ones during important moments or the need to write down words that are inspirational and meaningful to you (also seen in how you underline and annotate books you read). the long time you spent carefully deciding which songs to share, the consistent practicing to make sure it would be delivered to the best that you wanted it to be.
honouring artists that inspire you and have had an impact in your life, no matter how difficult the song, precisely because it was meaningful to you. wanting to be an artist who shares his heart through music and brings people together through that in harmony.
one of so many beautiful things i love about you is the way your entire soul lights up and sparkles through your eyes when you're happy and excited about talking about what you like. it is so endearing because it is pure, unfiltered joy.
when you sing, i can tell that you feel the emotions in that song. that carries into how you express yourself in performance. it really says a lot about who you are in your heart and soul. you feel things on that soul level, and you have an incredible strength of spirit. to hear you explain what happened at coachella, i wasn't surprised because that is such a vivid display of your inner self. your soul is such a perfect balance of fire and water; a playful or calm surface with so much depth underneath, and at the center of it, the burning heart of a star. i don't know if you fully realize just how strong you are, but you are, seonghwa. and what makes that strength all the more beautiful is that so many times you use it out of love. quietly, humbly, and with honour.
the staff arranging for you to be able to have that cherished memory with dpr ian reminded me warmly of what you shared when you fulfilled your dream as a model. even blooming slowly, that flower is still beautiful. people recognize that beauty in you; they see your potential. it was only a matter of time before this dream became true as well; and you were blessed with the knowledge that even before then, he was looking and saw you. someone who has inspired you so deeply has also been inspired by you in return. seeing your happiness in those moments is a treasure i'll cherish always. you are deserving and genuinely worthy of every bit of that happiness, brightest star.
this is very long already and i'm not sure if i've covered everything, but i loved watching you here so much. you've done ateez proud, all of your loved ones, and ultimately you've done so for yourself. may you always feel the humble pride of how far you've made it. i'm so proud of you beyond words, and can't wait to see where you'll go on this journey in the future. 🫶🏻🌟🩶✨️🌸☘️💐🎶
